On the left menu bar under device category, choose your device. Click on music option and select the track.Drag it to the trash can at the bottom of the sidebar menu.

Method 2:

Once your iPod is connected and iTunes is running. Click library; select the track and hit the delete button on your keyboard. A pop-up-menu appears asking, “Are you sure you want to remove the selected song from your iTunes library?” click Remove. Immediately, a second pop-up-box appears asking,“Do you want to remove the selected song to the trash or keep it in the iTunes music folder?” Selecting “keep file" will preserve it in the iTunes master folder and won’t be seen on the iTunes interface. Clicking “Move to Trash" button will delete it, sending it to the trash folder.

Method 3:

Applicable for iPod touch and iPhone devices . Switch on your iPod; launch the music app.Ensure your device running on version 5.0 or 5.1 on wards. If it runs on version 4.2, it definitely won’t work.Scroll to the song and swipe it, a red delete button will appear on the left side. Tap the button to delete the song.

For recent versions, go to settings, General or Usage tab, Manage storage, Scroll down to music and launch the application. At the top right, tap edit and select the song you want to delete. Finally, all your unwanted music is gone.

Be careful not tap on the All Songs tab as once you delete, the process cannot be reversed. You can also choose to delete your songs using the iTunes application from your computer as explained above.

Method 4:

If you purchased a used device either from a friend or store, and they forgot to reset it. Always Opt to factory reset it and load it with your songs.

To manually reset (Applicable to iPod Nano 6th and 7th Edition)Hold down the center select button and menu button all at the same time. The screen will power off. Seconds later, an apple icon will appear. Immediately press the Select button and then press the Play button at the same time, until the disk mode button appears with a check mark.

Connect it to a computer with USB sync cable and wait for iTunes to launch. At the left side of your screen select your device. Scroll down to Versions tab and click the Restore button to erase everything. A dialog box will pop up to confirm if you really want to restore it. And immediately, a pop-up menu will appear confirming the process is complete. To load songs, you may choose to sync it with your iTunes playlist.

There you go. I hope you are confident enough to delete songs from your iPod device.
